Last post of 2011

Well, it's been a busy year for everyone i think.
I have no idea what to say about it really.
I made another bunny yesterday, as a gift for a friend, it's the same as the one i made in THIS post, with the same pattern, you can find it  HERE, it's not mine.

We were in Baitaras yesterday, invited for lunch, i'm not sure wether to call it a village or a town really, but i had fun.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! =]

Vacation!

Yay! I finished my finals yesterday, and now i have a whole month off. I'm going away somewhere, just not yet.
Yesterday after the exam i went home, then went to the mall with my friends, i'm also going next week. I had so much fun, laughing, eating, talking, taking pictures, and then laughing again. It was really awesome, just for the sole fact that i was doing something i didn't have to do, and now i can sit here without the that urging feeling of having to do something.
I can get back to my crochet, writing, and... well... just sitting here on the internet. Ironically, this vacation started with work, house work, and then guests. But i'm being positive, most of the time at least, and the whole thing isn't killing me. Yet.
I took these pictures when it was raining 3 days ago i think. The pigeons were outside my bedroom window, standing on the thing for the air conditioning.

Oh and also...
Two perfect things:
  1. One Direction!!!
  2. Safe and Sound - Taylor Swift (ft. The Civil Wars) for the Hunger Games!!!
Picture from: http://zaynlovesithard.tumblr.com/post/14965943992/1d-blog-follow-for-more-pics-like-this

First of all, One Direction. These five are perfect in every way! Songs, looks, even accents. I loved their album, it's really awesome. There are a lot more dedicated fans than me, i've seen them in the documentary, but unfortunately because i live in Jordan, i don't get the courtesy to see them live or in a signing, or even on TV, the X Factor didn't air here, and it still doesn't. Tumblr and internet are my only two way to show my love. :)

And the second thing is Taylor Swift's new song, Safe and Sound with the Civil Wars, it's amazing. This angel just makes us love her more and more, i haven't seen the Hunger Games yet, but i've read the books and i can't wait to see the whole thing. I love the song, it's so perfect.
That's all for now.
Love,
Rahmeh

Yesterday was awesome, the next two weeks are going to be hell...

Yes, it was awesome. We had this lunch in class when everybody gets something either homemade, or bought and cut into pieces and they say they made it. I tried to make cookies, they turned out ok, not bad but not good either, they were more like stones, but they liked them, that was a good thing.
Now, to the "hell" part, I'm starting finals tomorrow, and i finish the 28th, our school finishes before any other school in the whole country. I'm not going to be here, i think, until after the 28th. Now i have to go and study computer, or memorize like a freaking commentator robot, i don't even know why i have to study that, we're supposed to be working ON the computer, not MEMORIZING how it works, it really sucks.
See you in 2 weeks,
Rahmeh

Singing in the rain...

Well, not really, not me anyway. The streetlights could be dancing. It's raining outside right now, perfect way to start a weekend if you had absolutely nothing planned. It's getting colder and colder here, i can't imagine what it's like in the other cities around Jordan, especially Ajloun. Maybe it would snow this year somewhere other than Amman and Ajloun, i hope so.

So i finished reading Oliver Twist, then i watched the movie. It's a great movie, but i liked the book more, it's much more detailed. I also finished reading the Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho, every book he writes is amazing, but i'm surprised that none of his books have been made into movies yet. I'm still reading East of Eden, it's getting more  and more interesting, it's gotten to the point where it really catches you, and you can't stop reading. But you know, then you have to sleep, because you have school the next day where you have to be fully awake (that's what we all say, but none of us are really awake most of the time, unless the teacher asks us a question catching us off guard), so that you can understand physics, math and chemistry, then go home saying you're "going to" study, when really you end up either sleeping or on the internet, but eventually you do study, most of the time anyway. That all happens even though i don't have a Facebook account, it would be a freaking disaster if i had a Facebook account.

I think that's why i don't get noticed in school that often, because i don't have a Facebook account, even though i get my fair share of judgmental stares and the very famous eye rolling from a bitch or two, no one really know who i am, only a few people do, and that's just by name. But i like that, i like being anonymous, i like that no one can link me to anything in school with a bunch of people just by a status, i guess i like most people looking at me in the hallways of the school i've been in since first grade and think: "she's been here forever, but who the hell is she?" And don't get the wrong idea, i'm not one of those girls you'd see with a perfect figure and a new trend on how to wear your hijab, or even eyeliner, i do wear a hijab, but i'm also not too thin or too fat, but that doesn't mean i'm not fat, and it doesn't mean that i have to stand by these people's rules. Wonder all you want, you're not going to come up with a single logical explanation, because you have no idea who i am, and if you do... tell me.

Eid and After-Eid Photo Blog

I think these are the things that are worth mentioning. Interesting or not, i did my best to not stay bored. On the bright side (the other one, not the one that has the laptop, that is, indeed VERY bright!) i finished a book, The Gift by Cecelia Ahern, i honestly love her and her books, she never fails to impress. I am currently reading Steve Jobs' biography along with East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
Enjoy.
 Coasters for Grandma in Palestine
November 2nd, 2011. I decided to make 3 coasters for my Grandmother in Palestine as gift, because grandpa was going back there. It's the same pattern i used to make the coasters in THIS post.

The Gift by Cecelia Ahern

November 4th, 2011. Originally this picture was taken before Eid, but i finished the book in Eid, three days after the picture had been taken.

My (new) MacBook Pro

I also got an iPod case
November 5th, 2011. Dad had just gotten back from the US, with many awesome gifts. Alhamdullellah.

This is a turtle, a very small one. Yes, I like to be very precise. See?

November 7th, 2011. This was taken on the second day of Eid. We found the turtle at one of our Relatives' garden. And to make things even more cheerful, i was wearing white, and ironically i went on dirt and mud too get a turtle.

Frozen Yogurt at Pinkberry, in City Mall, Amman.
November 12th, 2011. Long after Eid we went to the Airport, then we stopped by City Mall. I bought a few books, then got frozen yogurt.

Along with the rain, comes a lake.

November 17th, 2011 (Yesterday). The rain brought many interesting gifts, one of them was a lake forming on the street we walk through to our building. The bus drops us off at the beginning of a not-too-long street, it's barely even a street, but yesterday we had to walk pulling our trousers up as if we were expecting a flood. I got mud all over my Nike sneakers.

That's it. Thanks to anyone who cared enough to read or even look at the pictures. Would it be too much to ask for a comment? :) Thank you!

I'm (almost) Back!

I finally finished my midterms yesterday, i had 5 before Eid and 4 after. A lot has happened, or maybe it's just the fact the i got a lot of new things, one of them is this laptop, that's the biggest event of my whole year. I got a new MacBook Pro, my life is complete. Almost, i can't really ask for anything right now but a proper vacation, which might come in January, hopefully. I'm starting finals 15/12/2011.

I'll be making an individual post about the event of past 3 weeks i guess. With pictures, if i could.

Strong Sense of Smell

Today was just like any other day, wake up, whine about the fact that you exist, go to school by a bus filled with hyperactive monkeys (yes the kids, even though it's only 7:35, they have no problem screaming and jumping), sit in the damned class room (here, in Jordan, or my school the students are divided between 3 sections or 2, and THEY are the ones who stay in the classroom, and teachers move from class to class for each period), wait for the next 6 hours to be over, and then go home in the same bus with same but more hyperactive monkeys with much, much louder shrieking voices.

But a few things, as usual, stood out. What are you supposed to do when a teacher comes in and asks after a while: "Does anyone smell gasoline? or is it just me?" Of course, you start sniffing everything around you, including the windows, until you've experienced every smell EXCEPT gasoline. OF COURSE IT'S JUST YOU!  I wouldn't elaborate on it if she had stopped asking and saying: "i still smell gasoline," i swear to god it would've been better if she'd said: "i hear voices," i don't know why, but that somehow makes more sense.

Something else, we have this thing when one girl or a group of girls do something wrong, or frowned upon, or forbidden (not religiously speaking, or even lawfully actually), the teacher has to call the principle so that she would scold the WHOLE class, no exceptions, and at the end of the whole thing she would just start staring, i would assume she would be thinking of a punishment. Seriously? I think, i just THINK, you could have figured that out on your here? Just maybe, the whole 3-floor walk from your damn office to our class.

The thing is when EVERYONE gets scolded or scorned or whatever you want to call it, and the people who had absolutely nothing to do with it tell her "why are you yelling at us????" She would just answer: "the guilty one know that it's meant for them". What if they didn't? It's not a freaking Supreme Court! What if the class was just filled with a bunch of ignorant show-offs who might have been day dreaming throughout the whole thing, and didn't catch one freaking word?

Looks like this year is going to be one hell of a show. I just want the next two years to be over, and i still have  a whole half a year till senior year. Yeppee!

Lunch, 21-10-2011

Yesterday, we (me and my brothers) decided to make mini pizzas, seemed  like a good idea until we realized we had no idea how to make the dough. Of course the first thought that came was just to look online, instead we decided to get it from a bakery, ready and much safer to eat than the one we might have made.

They turned out fine, the orange stuff is out own version of Margarita pizza, we just mixed whatever cheese we had, and... well... there were a lot since Ramadan (Note: never EVER let your grandfather shop in Ramadan while he's fasting, everything looks so glorious and cheap, not to mention the fact that he forgets he already has half of that stuff).

I saw the Tree of Life yesterday (i did it for Sean Penn, not Brad), at first i didn't understand one thing, i mean it was going back and forth in time, and the weird images of a small flame or light, but then i realized it was showing the galaxies, and volcanoes erupting and all that, it was pretty good.

School = Social Disconnection

I haven't been here for a very long, long, LONG, time. My last post  had been on the September 16th (yes, i just checked). The reason: the first part is school, the other part is because i'm lazy, simple as that. School is the main problem really, i haven't been on tumblr for 5 freakin' days! This is called a disease, it means that something is wrong, that you probably ran into a wall just for the sake of getting a a brain injury. i really nothing that interesting to put here, but i'll put anything anyway.
So, i think last month, i made this little pouch for my external hard-drive, and apparently I've only gotten to take a picture of today, (again, lazy or just not caring anymore), and i also made these many flowers, or motifs or something, and i have absolutely NO IDEA what to do with them. i thought about making a Garland, but there was no color coordinated, or even a shape or a theme, and some of them were too big for a garland, and too small for a coaster or an oven mitt, but, then again, what the hell do i know?

Things on the of the-crap i have-no-idea-what-to-do-with list.

Anyway, there was also a problem that i wish i didn't have. it's that moment when Google FINALLY launches an iPhone/iPod application, and you can't sign into it. REALLY? Does Google hate me that much, what did III do??? See, now, the thing isn't that it won't open or it just gets stuck, it's when you sign in, Google has to ask if you're allowing the application to use your email or something like, or to get into your Google account, when you do that (allow it, as in approve to give the permission), something else shows up tells to to copy a CODE to paste somewhere in the app, it  says "copy this code, go back to to application and paste it there". WHERE exactly????? when you go "back" you get the same  start up screen ([Sign In], [Sign Up]).

I eventually gave up, just convinced myself to get over the fact that the app works for other people, and not me. the thought is still irritating.

Well, that's it. oh, and also, i hate everyone in my class with a few exceptions.

A new set of coasters

I finished these for a friend of my mom's in the United States two days ago. I got the pattern from 150 Corchet Trims book, it's called the Trellis Motif, it's really easy to remember and very enjoyable.

I also got 3 new books, One Day, Three Cups of Tea, and For the Love of a Son.

Eid, School, and BOOKS! Lots of them in fact...

School started, i haven't written a word in here ever since the first day of Eid, i barely wrote anything that day.

Starting with Eid. The first day was the same as every year, people come visit you in the morning, the men to be precise, and then after they leave at 11 am you go to sleep because you've been awake since 5 am. That day i slept until lunch at 4 pm, we had lunch with my grandparents. We waited until 7:30 pm to go on our own relatives' tour. After going to 4 or 5 houses, we got to the last house of that day, at 9 pm we went to our 2nd only descent mall in Irbid, with 5 of dad's cousins, i had fun, i went home at 12:45 am, which was  surprising, but awesome.

School. School started exactly the first Sunday after Eid, which was only 2 days after it, no breathers. The first day was normal, not as pleasant as i expected, but pretty normal. For one thing, 11th grade is going to be a hell of a ride, specially when it comes to the people i am going to share a classroom with for a whole school year, and that might be stuck with the next year. The school practically stuffed us from 10th grade in two classrooms, last year there were 3 classrooms, and this year a lot of girls transferred, one of them is one of my best friends, thanks to her transfer school sucked even more. it didn't sucks, it sucks! Most of my friends are in the other class, yay.  I just figured i'd endure it, and concentrate on studying.
The books were twice the size they are now, until i split them in half

As for BOOKS, i finished reading Thanks for the Memories for Cecelia Ahern 3 week ago, and i started reading Dan Brown's the Lost Symbol, a nice change, keeps you reading for hours and hours. I've always loved Cecelia's books, they always relate you to something in real life, every time i read something about someone in one of her books i remember something about my family or my friends or my school.

Monsieur Le Owl

I finished this owl (even though it barely looks like one :P) two days ago, i've been trying to finish a  book, but i didn't. :)

Yesterday we had the first family feast at our house, instead of my grandparents', it was great, i still can't get over the food. I didn't make anything but the salad, and worked as the person who's pouring drinks for people the whole time.

An Awesome, lovely, productive day...

There might be a hint of sarcasm in there... no... there is sarcasm in there, today's event didn't have a whiff of calmness, and not in a good way, just pure misery and, filling every second, loud, LOUD voices. Around me were a series of problems that could fill a whole lame Turkish soap opera, yelling everywhere, not exactly in the same house.
It started yesterday, when our neighbors downstairs on the first floor started yelling at each other, a couple. and then, i think an hour before ftoor, the people next to us, still in the same building husband and wife, started fighting, she left and then he left, their poor son got his own load of pain trying to fix things.
And today, in the building BEHIND our building, women were shouting at each other, they didn't leave anything or anything out of it, not even god --istaghfara allah -- we can hear them from our kitchen balcony, so another soap opera, mostly guys would love that. Maybe.

And now to crochet, i made a little purple and gray pouch, it can't fit anything bigger than a handbook i think, but it's practical. It's the same amigurumi method, but instead of 6 sc in the first round in the ring, i put 10 sc.
