Eid, School, and BOOKS! Lots of them in fact...

School started, i haven't written a word in here ever since the first day of Eid, i barely wrote anything that day.

Starting with Eid. The first day was the same as every year, people come visit you in the morning, the men to be precise, and then after they leave at 11 am you go to sleep because you've been awake since 5 am. That day i slept until lunch at 4 pm, we had lunch with my grandparents. We waited until 7:30 pm to go on our own relatives' tour. After going to 4 or 5 houses, we got to the last house of that day, at 9 pm we went to our 2nd only descent mall in Irbid, with 5 of dad's cousins, i had fun, i went home at 12:45 am, which was  surprising, but awesome.

School. School started exactly the first Sunday after Eid, which was only 2 days after it, no breathers. The first day was normal, not as pleasant as i expected, but pretty normal. For one thing, 11th grade is going to be a hell of a ride, specially when it comes to the people i am going to share a classroom with for a whole school year, and that might be stuck with the next year. The school practically stuffed us from 10th grade in two classrooms, last year there were 3 classrooms, and this year a lot of girls transferred, one of them is one of my best friends, thanks to her transfer school sucked even more. it didn't sucks, it sucks! Most of my friends are in the other class, yay.  I just figured i'd endure it, and concentrate on studying.
The books were twice the size they are now, until i split them in half

As for BOOKS, i finished reading Thanks for the Memories for Cecelia Ahern 3 week ago, and i started reading Dan Brown's the Lost Symbol, a nice change, keeps you reading for hours and hours. I've always loved Cecelia's books, they always relate you to something in real life, every time i read something about someone in one of her books i remember something about my family or my friends or my school.

Monsieur Le Owl

I finished this owl (even though it barely looks like one :P) two days ago, i've been trying to finish a  book, but i didn't. :)

Yesterday we had the first family feast at our house, instead of my grandparents', it was great, i still can't get over the food. I didn't make anything but the salad, and worked as the person who's pouring drinks for people the whole time.

An Awesome, lovely, productive day...

There might be a hint of sarcasm in there... no... there is sarcasm in there, today's event didn't have a whiff of calmness, and not in a good way, just pure misery and, filling every second, loud, LOUD voices. Around me were a series of problems that could fill a whole lame Turkish soap opera, yelling everywhere, not exactly in the same house.
It started yesterday, when our neighbors downstairs on the first floor started yelling at each other, a couple. and then, i think an hour before ftoor, the people next to us, still in the same building husband and wife, started fighting, she left and then he left, their poor son got his own load of pain trying to fix things.
And today, in the building BEHIND our building, women were shouting at each other, they didn't leave anything or anything out of it, not even god --istaghfara allah -- we can hear them from our kitchen balcony, so another soap opera, mostly guys would love that. Maybe.

And now to crochet, i made a little purple and gray pouch, it can't fit anything bigger than a handbook i think, but it's practical. It's the same amigurumi method, but instead of 6 sc in the first round in the ring, i put 10 sc.

Books and crochet patterns filling boredom

It's true, it's all i do now beside reading Qur'an and praying, that's my Ramadan for you, or my vacation. But enough complaining about that, i think some people have it worst than me. Maybe.
I finished Girls of Riyadh by Rajaa Alsanea, i loved every second reading it, it's really great almost perfect. So, after that i resumed reading Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern, every book she writes is amazing, you can keep reading and reading non-stop, that happens with other writers, but she just has a special way of telling a story, it's always funny, romantic, and sad at the same time, and you never get bored, and the best part is about all that is she doesn't write about vampires, i think I've had my fare share of vampire/fantasy-fiction, a whole year actually.

Anyway, coming to finished crochet projects, i started and coasters set a few days ago, it seems nice and interesting so far, and i am very much in love with these Amigurumi stuff, they're SO cute! I made a a bear head, it's supposed to be in a cupcake liner, but we were out of those, this awesome pattern is not mine, you can find it  HERE.

And also, i made this little Robin, named it Mr. Maroon :P i know, silly, but it fits. The patter is HERE (it's not mine!).

Something else on the list of "all things handmade and practical" is a "fan circle motif bookmark. i didn't use the same yarn i usually used, i used cotton perle. I followed the instructions in 150 crochet trims.

Ramadan, Ramadan, Ramadan...

Haven't been here for a while, a week of Ramadan has passed, and it hasn't been that hard, last year the weather was hotter so it was harder, but this year is pretty good. and the BEST part is the food looks good every day!
Cinnamon Rolls made by my brother. i know, weird.
So, the camera's battery is empty, and the charger is somewhere else, not lost, just "misplaced", and i can't take decent pictures of my finished crochet stuff, I've made two amigurumi animals, a cat and a teddy bear, and i think that's a big achievement for a newbie. I've also finished a garland for my room, pink and green, and i am working on a set of cup coasters, maybe a gift for somebody.
Have you been reading anything lately? Yeah, Girls of Riyadh , and i am about to finish it!!!
Unfinished Garland
First amigurumi finished projects
One thing i want more than anything right now is to go somewhere other than where i am right now. i want to go to Italy, or France, or New York, you know the normal far away dream-lands for anyone who's never been on more than a 4-hour flight.

Cell Phone Cozy

This is what i made today, thanks to THIS brilliant tutorial. Anything fits in there, i could use it for either my phone or iPod, and it's not that hard to make. ;)

I also tried something a little more challenging today from 150 Crochet Trims book, the "Elegant Petals" motif, i was pretty proud of myself when i finished it, because it drove me a bit cray with picots.
I really need to go shopping, i don't have one ball of yarn big enough to make anything but motifs, and you need something to put the motif on. We're going to Jerash today for BBQ, can't wait, because i didn't have breakfast yet, and i'm so hungry.

Crochet Love ♥

This was a craft suggested in my school, to sort of finish off the year, i got addicted. I made this because i was bored, i really had no project in mind at all. I started off with motifs and braids, and really enjoyed it.
I learned nothing about crochet in school, i learned from a book called 150 Crochet Trims, it's REALLY awesome, it has practically everything for a beginner, there's a refresher course for the basic stitches and skills.

For the month that's left from summer, i'm taking on all kinds of crafts that i can finish, the things that i can actually get something useful out of, so i discovered Craft Gawker, i don't know if it's a website that has an iPhone app, or an iPhone app that has a website, but it's REALLY awesome. It sort of gets you to DIY tutorials for many different awesome things. I'll post anything i achieve here, i hope i do.

So far I've only made covers for phones and iPods and books, and small teeny-tiny bags, some gifts for my mom and friends and bookmarks, believe it or not, that was the thing i was excited about most, bookmarks, i love this whole crafts thing.

Reading

Haven't been here in a while, maybe because i feel like my summer is turning into a big pointless ball of crap, i barely do anything but read. It's just sad, it's not boredom anymore, it's the whole idea of doing nothing different everyday. Next year the vacation is going to be tormented with books and school, which makes things worse this year.
I recently finished reading Memoirs of a Geisha two days ago, and watched the movie  after finishing it. It was sad to finish the book, the whole two weeks of reading it was a nice break, there was at least something to look forward to. Now i'm reading Julie and Julia, i haven't ever watched the movie, but the book is really funny, and filled with food.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II World Premiere!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥

It was AMAZING, even though i watched the whole thing live (the red carpet thing not the movie), i was crying at the end. I love J.K. Rowling, and i would really love for her to write another book, that was another reason to cry, but we know it's never going to end. After all, she did say "No story lives unless someone wants to listen..." J.K. Rowling has really changed lives, those three, Daniel, Rupert and Emma changed lives. i wanted to be there SO BAD!!! that was partly the reason i was crying, because i wasn't there, but i  am going to watch the damn movie in the cinema when it comes, i don't care how, I HAVE TO. Even DARREN CRISS was at the premiere!
Emma: I’m going to voice what I think everyone in the crowd is already thinking which is that Dan, you didn’t get lucky. You were, and are, the perfect Harry. And will be forever.
Dan: Thank-you. (goes and hugs her)

Everyone looked perfect, including Helena Bonham Carter and Evanna Lynch, Emma Watson was pretty much the best, she wore a gorgeous dress by Oscar De La Renta, and wore Ellie Saab for the after-party.

Back to Writing

I am re-writing the story I wrote for the first competition almost five months ago. The story was really bad, it has some sort of mystery, but it was too long, I mean it was 22 pages. I re-read it, and found in almost every paragraph something wrong and sort of out of place. Hope the new one turns out well.

I miss my journal

The last time i went to UAE was in February i think. when i was there i did A LOT of shopping, and not just for clothes, i got this journal that shows on the outside Barquq, Gates of Cairo. I started writing in it when i was there, i kept at it until i got to Jordan, there was just nothing that interesting going on because i got back to school, and really the only thing that was interesting at that time was either a quiz or a graded quiz, and i hated writing about those things, because it just brings out the worst memories of studying, and mostly the things the made me go crazy. i began writing again from time to time, every two weeks, or whenever something worth remembering happened. up until now, i haven;t written in it since June 3rd, which is very sad if you ask me. So hopefully, i'll get back to writing again, i have nothing else to do but eat, dance, and watch movies.
